Synopsis of Places We've Never Been by Kasie West

Remember your childhood bestie- the one you used to talk to all the time, but now it's just liking each other's Insta posts? That's Norah and Skyler in a nutshell. They haven't seen each other in ages, but a summer RV road trip with their families is about to change everything.

Norah's super excited to reconnect with Skyler, but when he shows up, he seems totally checked out, like he'd rather be anywhere else. Norah's hurt and confused, and she ends up giving him the cold shoulder right back.

Their friendship is suddenly on thin ice.

But a summer spent cruising across the country can do funny things to people. Norah and Skyler start to see each other in a whole new light. Their friendship-turned-frenemy-ship might actually turn into something more...

A Brief Review of Places We've Never Been by Kasie West

This was a cute and fun summer road trip story that I mostly enjoyed. It was a good time overall, but it wasn't totally my cup of tea. It tried to be inclusive, but it kind of missed the mark in some ways. And the main character felt like she came straight out of a 2010 YA novel, which isn't really my favorite type of character.

The biggest thing for me was that the setting wasn't really fleshed out. It's hard to dislike a road trip book, and the overall vibe was fun, but I think this could have been a stronger part of the story. It's mostly dialogue-driven, so the setting wasn't always super clear.
