It was available globally through Crunchyroll, offering subtitled versions to viewers outside Asia, while Netflix catered to audiences in East and Southeast Asia, excluding China.

This anime adaptation brings to life the medical mystery novels penned by Natsu Hyuuga. The story first appeared on the "Shousetsuka ni Narou" website in October 2011 and was later published as a single novel volume by Shufunotomo in September 2012. Subsequently, the series was reissued as a light novel with illustrations by Touko Shino under the Hero Bunko imprint, starting in August 2014. In addition to the novels, the series has inspired manga adaptations. Itsuki Nanao's version, illustrated by Nekokurage, started in the Monthly Big Gangan magazine in May 2017. Square Enix has published 12 volumes to date, with the 13th due on March 25. A second manga series by Minoji Kurata has been serialized in Sunday Gene-X since August 2017, with 17 volumes already on the shelves.

English readers have access to the series through J-Novel Club, which began releasing digital versions of the light novel in November 2020, and Square Enix Manga & Books, which licensed the manga adaptation by Nanao and Nekokurage in November 2019. The latter has published up to the 11th volume as of March 5, with the 12th volume scheduled for release on September 3.
